Linda
DeLoatch polishes her passion for hair at Images Unlimited, a salon in
Hampton Rhodes. A sensitive touch is essential, she said.
"My job is
to help people find solutions for hair replacement," DeLoatch said. "People
with hair loss are already in an emotional state, so I try to keep my salon
very low profile."quot;
The
Hampton Roads resident has dedicated most of her adult life to hair styling.
The biggest challenge is getting customers through the door of her salon,
Deloatch said.
"I just
want to ease that transition for them," Deloatch said.
To make
that happen, DeLoatch leans on her other passions - meditation and
relaxation. She practices and teaches
Breathworks, a form of yoga that
concentrates on aligning the flow of energy in the body. This helps to
create what she calls the calming energy in her store.
"Standing
behind the chair for so many years put me in tune with my clients' energy,"
DeLoatch said. "My Breathworks exercises have only enhanced that."
Last year,
DeLoatch also spearheaded a program called "Wise- Women Council." The group
met every six weeks in 2010.
"Every
season, we focused on a different goal point for the women," DeLoatch said.
"You hand someone a tool that can help them start their life over and watch
their growth. It's amazing."
Even in
her downtime, DeLoatch pushes herself to the limit. She camps, kayaks and
hosts an annual neighborhood-building activity called Community Day.
Betsy
Nolan, a longtime client and current publicist for DeLoatch,
raves about her multifaceted stylist.
"I met
Linda through a mutual friend," Nolan said. "I was attracted to her calm
demeanor and customized service, hallmarked by dignity and respect of the
individual."
